Homemade Apple Butter

This was my first try at making Apple Butter. I am so in love with this recipe. It is delicious. My son couldn’t wait for breakfast this morning! He was very anxious to try my apple butter. I must say, I did not disappoint!

For this recipe, I used 10 large apples

6 Golden Delicious Apples

4 Honey Crisp Apples

1/2 cup sugar

4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp allspice

1 teaspoon nutmeg

Juice of one lemon

I peeled, cored, and diced all of my apples. Place them in a pot. Add all ingredients. Cook for about an hour on medium-low heat. I stirred this probably every ten minutes or so. You will thank me later! Your house will begin to smell like an enchanted bakery!

Once it is cooked and the apples were soft and mushy, I started to blend them up with an immersion blender.

I blended until most chunks were gone. I like mine with a few pieces of fruit intact.

Then I poured the mixture into pre-sterilized mason jars. I then water bathed them for only 3-5 minutes just to seal the jars.
